Thorsten
Quaeschning
Thorsten Quaeschning is a Berlin-based composer, multi-instrumentalist and producer. Raised in a musical family, he learned violin, flute, piano and drums before turning to electronic instruments, studio production and composition.
He founded Picture Palace music in 2003 and joined Tangerine Dream in 2005. In 2013, Edgar Froese appointed him Musical Director of Tangerine Dream. Under Quaeschning’s leadership, the band composes and records new music with Hoshiko Yamane and Paul Frick while touring internationally and performing concerts on stages around the world.
His wider work spans solo records, film and documentary scores, his work with Tangerine Dream on the music for the video game Grand Theft Auto V and collaborations with Brian May (Queen), Jean-Michel Jarre, Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree), Schiller, Steve Rothery (Marillion), Steve Hillage (Gong), Ulrich Schnauss, Blood Incantation, The Ocean, Kristof Hahn (Swans), Harald Grosskopf, Franz Bargmann (Michael Rother’s NEU!) and Shir-Ran Yinon.
